My cholesteral was 165, I was on Lipitor already but he wanted to ‘try’ me on this drug. I was in a very depressed state for 2 months, actually was contemplating suicide until I finally took myself off the Niaspan. The severe depression left (and it wasn’t listed as a side-effect) and when I went to see him he asked how I was doing and I said “Fine now that I took myself off the Niaspan.” His remark? ” Yeah, most people can’t handle that!” I almost went for his throat. I have never felt the same since taking that and I would say he ruined my life. Needless to say I walked out of his office and now have a new cardio doc.
