Red light ticket cameras to be banned in Texas

Beyond the fact that the intersection cameras do not actually improve safety, it appears that their use goes against the U.S. Constitution. The sixth amendment promises each citizen the right to face their accusers. Obviously, a ticketed individual is not going to be able to confront a computer.

*Texas officials may decide to keep ticket cameras on the state’s toll road.

A money making scam

Not only do state counties make a killing with red light camera tickets, but so do the camera companies. Chicago banned the ticketing system after it was made public that the camera company was making money on each ticket issued – giving them an incentive to over-ticket citizens.
