The popular belief among American consumers that aspartame is dangerous has lead PepsiCo to change the recipe for Diet Pepsi.
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener used in NutraSweet and Equal. Although many consumers think otherwise, the sweetener is perfectly safe. Despite that, aspartame will be removed from Diet Pepsi in an effort to increase sales.
Starting in August 2015, the soda will be sweetened by sucralose, which you may know as Splenda.
